Violet Alma Kipling

BORN September 1938 and passed to spirit in 16th January 2013

Violet was born in London in 1938 and she had 2 sisters and 1 brother.  Only her youngest sister survives. The whole family moved up to Darlington, County Durham, where they all settled, married and raised their families. She met her husband Bill and they have been a constant support to each other.

Bill worked as a carpenter and Violet trained as a shorthand typist.  They were both hard workers and brought up their 2 children – first a boy then a girl. Both the children remained and have raised their children and now their grandchildren in the town.

She worked for several firms in the town and had many various interests which she both organised and attended.

Her last job was for a local solicitor where she worked until her health deteriorated.

She had COPD and other serious ailments which left her greatly capacitated.

She was very proud of the fact she was a member of MENSA.

She herself had lost both her parents by that time so that I think was one of the reasons that she was motivated to learn.

We were able to work in trance at this time and i know that she had discussions with the spirit world how she could change things.  One of her spirit guides explained that Vi herself had to achieve credibility, in other words gain the knowledge, so that she would be listened to and be effective in bringing changes.

Right from the start of her journey of knowledge, discovery and understanding she was greatly inspired by the spirit world and she was able to sustain this close link with them throughout her life and beyond.

She began to do the courses which had been written by the Spiritualist National Union, SNU, studying on an evening when she came from work.

She also continued to work in the churches doing services and helping out at the church.

Her life in Spiritualism

She found the spiritualist church in Darlington which she attended for some time and then became a member of the church in about the late 1970 and remained so until her death.  She had been given the Long Service award from the

Spiritualist National Union after 25years service and she was also given the title of Honorary Vice President from the church.

She served on the church committee helping the church as much as she could and became a registered healer around 1981.  She had been secretary and treasurer over the years.

She started her journey into education around that time when she decided that she would begin to study the religion, the science and the philosophy of Spiritualism.  At that time there was no training going on in the church or any of the surrounding ones and she became determined that that would be changed.  There was some elderly mediums in the church but unfortunately they didn’t seem interested in training or education.  Violet realised that people needed to know the how’s and where’s of mediumship and understand the role of the spirit world in that communication with those who had passed on.

She did all of the courses if I remember correctly and started to attend SNU meetings and conferences and began to stand up and speak to the assembly sustained by her knowledge and common sense.

In that way she became recognised by the powers that be and she eventually became chair of education for the SNU and became an executive on the board too.

Her first job was to totally rewrite all the courses.

Throughout her studies she had achieved the Certificate and Diploma of the SNU – CSNU and DSNU.

The new courses which she wrote formed part of the DLPs which most of you are familiar with.  She also completed a series of Lesson Plans with me which I still use.

So she continued to be at work, do services and attend the Arthur Findlay College as chair of education.  She remained in that position for many years.  She also began to work as a Tutor at the College, meeting and working with many well known mediums and arranging several weeks of study over the years.

She also formed PRISM – psychical research into spiritualist mediums.  She arranged well known mediums and scientists to look into mediumship and the aim was to publish the results.

She was very interested in the science side of Spiritualism.

The famous Lemon Tart was also born while she was arranging these study weeks.

Her health continued to deteriorate and eventually she had to give up her active work for the SNU but still served as typist and was on several consulting committees.

She found the psychic chat sites on the internet and she started to work for Craig Hamilton Parkers site in around 2000 and remained a teacher on the site up to her death.

She transformed the site from dealing with various crackpots to promoting education to anyone who was seeking.  She introduced the DLPs using the courses she had written for the SNU as the basis.

She was highly respected by Craig and his wife, and all those she worked with on the internet site – known as Delphi.  There was an education side to the site which was called Elysium and Craig changed everyone’s names into Greek ones which was hilarious.

She touched the lives of hundreds of people around the world some of who she was happy to meet up with in the real world.

When she gave up her work at the College she started to look for something else to do and we hit upon the idea of bringing the teachers from the College to her local area for a fraction of the cost of staying there.

So she began to organise seminars for 2 to 3 days in local spiritualist churches giving the proceeds of the event to the host church and so Rainbows End was born.  Vi, her sister Doris and I together began this work and she contacted her many friend who were also mediums & teachers.  People who knew Vi from the internet site also started to attend and came from all over the world to be with us.

Rainbows End was very successful and made thousands of pounds for the host church and we had a great time. Lots of laughter and tears.

Vi was unforgettable to watch her work on the platform during a service. She was utter magic.  She continued to work in local churches and she continued to inspire others.

She was also given the highest award the SNU can give and that was the Fellowship of the SNU – FSNU, of which there were only 3.  She wrote her “Myths and Misconceptions of Spiritualism” as her thesis.

So she had been awarded from the SNU – CSNU, DSNU. TSNU and FSNU and the Long service award LSSNU.  She was also a wonderful medium and healer, and most of all humble and hilarious.

The only award she didn’t go for was as a Minister of the SNU but that award went to her sister, Doris.

I know that her work continues from the spirit world and I am proud to have known her and watched her grow over the many years – from about 1979 when we first met.

I have felt her presence many times since she passed and I wonder how I found Violet Sky after it had just been open a few weeks.

I hope her influence continues for many years both from her work here and now in the spirit world.
